I like to FREE up some of my money by staying off the strip. So, one of my favorite places to stay is the South Point Hotel Casino Spa. It’s a big (2,500 room) hotel with a bowling alley, movie theater, 11 restaurants, entertainment and a huge casino! It’s also relatively new with large rooms. You can typically find rooms for about $50 per night during the week and even less if you Name Your Own Price & Save up to 60% OFF! I’ve gotten rooms for about $40 per night by bidding.
South Point Hotel offers FREE Parking as well as FREE Airport Shuttle service and they gave me a coupon book that included FREE Meals, FREE Cocktails, FREE Dessert, FREE Wine, FREE Show Admission, a FREE Souvenir (keychain), FREE Popcorn at the movie and more. You can play Bingo for FREE at the 9am session. You get FREE coffee in your room – as much as you can drink if you just call housekeeping for more. It’s a nice place if you have a car, which you can generally get for about $12 per day on Priceline in Vegas.

1 • FREE STUFF AT BELLAGIO IN LAS VEGAS
The Bellagio Hotel is a bit out of my range being the FREE Stuff lover that I am. BUT, there are several FREE Things to do at the Bellagio Hotel And Casino that are well worthwhile. First off, go there in the evening. I’ll tell you why in a moment.
Start in the hotel lobby. Look up. The chandelier is out of this world. It’s HUGE! Very impressive. It’s called Fiori di Como by famed glass sculptor Dale Chihuly and encompasses 2,000 hand-blown colorful glass blossoms. Here it is…
Walk through the lobby and you will be in the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens (below). It is open to the general public and admission is FREE. It’s always open and you will find beautiful flowers and sculptures made from flowers. The theme changes about every 2 months. Summer Garden Party was theme when I was there.
The lobby is a great place to catch a breath and maybe a cocktail in the lounge and just people watch!
Finally, head out to Las Vegas Blvd. and take in a FREE show of the Fountains of Bellagio. It’s a display of water, music and light thoughtfully interwoven to mesmerize its admirers. It’s Beautiful! Shows start at least every 30 minutes. Try to get up on the handrail if you can for an unobstructed view.
2 • FREE WILDLIFE HABITAT IN LAS VEGAS
The Flamingo Hotel on the Strip has a really cool FREE Admission Wildlife Habitat. Naturally, they have flamingos there, but there are also all kinds of other birds (pelicans, ducks, black swan, ibis, hummingbirds and more) as well as turtles, crayfish and ginormous Japanese Koi fish and catfish, carp, sturgeon and minnows.
If you are lucky you will be there at feeding time and get a FREE show from the birds and a resident zoologist. I saw them feeding the pelicans when I was there. Unfortunately, the flamingos were sleeping (I think?) on one foot!
3 • FREE STUFF AT CAESAR FORUM SHOPS LAS VEGAS
The shopping center that is attached to Caesars Palace, the Forum Shops, has some cool things to see for FREE!
The mall itself is a beautiful design that replicates the village feel of the streets of Italy. There is a replica of the famous Trevi fountain and the ceiling is even painted to look like the sky with clouds. There are sidewalk cafes, humongous statues and Roman architecture.
There’s a really cool aquarium in front of California Pizza Kitchen (see below to get a FREE small plate at CPK while you are there). The aquarium even has shark in it and you might be lucky enough to be there at feeding time! There is also a really cool FREE animatronic show called the Fall of Atlantis (hourly, I believe) of Neptune that plays on the top of the aquarium.
There is one other FREE show of talking and moving statues of Greek Gods with water, sound and laser lights that is in the center of the shopping center called Festival Fountain.
FREE Gelato (Ice Cream) Samples at the Cafe – they will let you try more than one FREE Sample if you just ask! I got 4 🙂
4 • FREE AQUARIUM IN LAS VEGAS
There’s another FREE Aquarium at a fairly new off-strip hotel called the Silverton Hotel & Casino. It’s a 117,000 gallon aquarium that earned Silverton the distinction of “Best FREE Attraction.” There are interactive feeding shows daily. You can see jellyfish, sharks and stingrays among other fish in the reef. You might even see a mermaid! Really!
I was pretty impressed with the stingrays.
There is also a Bass Pro Shops store just steps away where you can see turtles, freshwater fish and ducks for FREE!
Who wants to pay $15 to get in the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay when you can see 2 aquariums for FREE (Caesar’s Forum Shops and the Silverton Casino/Hotel)?
You can stay at the Silverton Hotel & Casino from just $37 per night too! I think I might stay there next time I go.
5 • FREE VISITOR GUIDES & MAPS FOR LAS VEGAS
Check the hotel lobby, with the concierge or any tourist information booth. These places are loaded with booklets and maps that have FREE coupons for FREE offers and discounts. In a city full of tourists everyone is trying to pull you in with their special FREE offer.
There’s a really cool new FREE Interactive Map & Guide called blippAR – it’s the smaller one in the photo below. It has an accompanying FREE iPhone app and it gives you access to instant virtual content. It’s loaded with info about restaurants, entertainment, shopping, nightlife and attractions.
6 • FREE PHOTO OP IN LAS VEGAS
This is probably the one FREE thing that you can do that will shout “TOURIST” louder than anything else. Stop by the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign and take a photo. There is almost always a line there and people will gladly take your photo if you just ask. That way you can get your whole group in the photo.
FREE Parking is available in the median but there are only about 10 spaces.
A trip to Las Vegas would not be complete without a photo of the iconic sign!
I even found Big Bird hanging out there! What are the chances of that?
7 • FREE SIGHT SEEING IN LAS VEGAS
There are SO many things to see for FREE in Las Vegas. It’s fun just to walk the strip and see everything – the Pirate Ships at TI, the Canal at the Ventian, the Mirage Volcano, the cityscape of New York, New York … There is SO much going on and so many people from every walk of life and from around the world.
However, one of the coolest things to do if you have rental car is to take a trip out to see the Hoover Dam. It’s about 30 miles and well worth the trip.
It really is quite impressive to see and the history about building it and the laborers is very interesting. The view is great as you walk across the top. Look down! You can also drive across the top but you can’t really see much from inside a car.
Did you know that the base of the Hoover Dam is 660 feet wide?
There are FREE Parking areas that are a short walk from the dam. It does cost $7 to park in the garage at the visitors center.
If you are taking kids there are some FREE Educational Printouts and a FREE Printable Learning Packet that you can take along.
