The US Government has many websites that offer FREE Printed Literature and Publications as well as FREE Posters, Maps, Guides, Reports, Handbooks, Brochures, CDs and DVDs.

Here are 8 FREE Sites that you can order items from –

1 • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation – FDIC

Who doesn’t want FREE Money Publications, or was that FREE Money?  The FDIC has an informational, educational FREE CD-ROM Series called Money Smart as well as FREE Consumer Resources and FREE Binder to store FDIC Law, Regulations & Related Acts.

2 • National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute – NHLBI

NHLBI is a division of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.  They offer FREE publications specific to heart, lung and blood health and diseases.  They have a really nice FREE Heart Healthy Recipe Booklet called Keep the Beat Recipes: Deliciously Healthy Family Meals and a FREE DVD titled The Heart, The Drum: Strengthening the Heartbeat of American Indians and Native Alaskans DVD.

3 • National Institue of Drug Abuse – NIDA

NIDA has FREE Charts, Posters, Manuals and Reports about the science of drug abuse and addiction. They have some great FREE items for teachers to use in their classrooms.

4 • Natural Resources Conservation Service – NRCS

NRSC is a branch of the United States Department of Agriculture.  Look for items that have a shopping cart on the far right hand side.  These are the items that you can order for delivery.  They have FREE Posters, FREE Conservation Books and FREE Maps.  Some items are for NRCS State Office ordering only, so look in the description.  The FREE Poster – Inch of Soil is a nice find.  Most FREE items come in large quantities.

5 • Publications.USA.gov

Operated by the Federal Citizen Information Center and serves as a central source of information about federal government publications helpful to citizens. They have a FREE Printed Publications Catalog (updated in 2015) that you can order that contains FREE  literature on everything from animals to travel.  Their FREE Consumer Action Handbook is pretty handy, too.  When you search, select “Printed” from the FORMAT drop down menu to find only the publications that can be mailed to you, as opposed to pdf files that you would print yourself.

6 • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration – SAMHSA

You’ll find FREE Publications and literature about alcohol and drug addiction as well as FREE Guides and Reports about Mental Disorders and Treatment.  There’s even a list of Popular Publications including a FREE Suicide Prevention Hotline Magnet and a FREE Comic Book called No Longer Alone (A Story About Alcohol, Drugs, Depression, and Trauma): Addressing the Specific Needs of Women.

7 • US Department of Education – ED Pubs

Well, these are Educational Items!  There are FREE Bookmarks, FREE Postcards, FREE DVDs, FREE Guides and FREE CD-ROMs.  The FREE Afterschool Action Kit – Get Into Action is popular as is the FREE Book My Future, My Way: First Steps Toward College.

8 • United States Environmental Protection Agency – EPA

They have FREE environmental posters, bookmarks, guides and more. Not all documents are available as FREE  physical copies that can be mailed to you.  Look for the USPS symbol (below), otherwise you can print them yourself.  Simply select “Hardcopy Publications” when you perform a search.
